this project |

Relish
2009, is a project managed by the Rotary Club
of St Kilda Inc. that has involved the creation of
a recipe book, with recipes contributed by local
City of Port Phillip restaurants and cafes. Proceeds
from sales of the recipe book will be donated to
the Sacred Heart Mission and Rotary International’s
project, ShelterBox.
In the sixteen weeks between June and October 2008, the Rotary Club of St Kilda Inc. managed to secure the support of 58 restaurants and cafes, sponsorship to cover the printing costs of the book, gain the support from local photographers & designers in the production of the book, and print the publication. The book is great value, retailing at $14.95, and
makes an ideal Christmas gift for anyone who loves
food or dining out. |

this
book is dedicated to Donlevy Fitzpatrick |
||
This
book is dedicated to Donlevy Fitzpatrick, 1946–2008,
in appreciation of his contribution to the St Kilda
food and wine scene.
He was the founder of the Dogs Bar, which he created when St Kilda was still an unfashionable destination, and in the early 1990s he redeveloped The George after it had languished for decades in disrepair. Both are iconic venues that provide a uniquely St Kilda experience. Donlevy was one of a small group of passionate people who tackled and liberalised the Victorian licensing laws so that bars, cafes and restaurants could serve food and wine in informal settings, including street fronts and footpaths. He has left Melbourne with a strong legacy that benefits
all of us who are lovers of good food and enjoy a glass
of wine. |
